ETHIO-LEATHER INDUSTRY PLC. (ELICO) Ethio-Leather Industry PLC Established in August 1997 G.C. The three-leather processing and one Shoe manufacturing unit, Awash Tannery, Ethio pickling (Abyssinia Tannery), Universal Leather Products Factory and Tikurabay shoe Factory of ELICO were established in different time and situation as a separate entity. (ELICO) was established as a corporate body to manage the three privatized factories Namely Awash Tannery Factory, Abyssinia Tannery Factory, & Universal Leather Products Factory (ULPF) transfers from Government with capital of Birr 51,705,000 (USD 7,673,640) and merge with Tikurabay Shoe factory purchased from the government since October 1, 1999
